¹ "Do not judge, so that you won't be judged. ² For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. ³ And why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? ⁴ Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and look, the log is in your own eye? ⁵ You hypocrite. First remove the log out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye. ⁶ "Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, or they will trample them under their feet and turn and tear you to pieces. ⁷ "Ask, and it will be given to you. Few are those who find it. ¹⁵ "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. ¹⁶ By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? ¹⁷ Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. ²⁰ Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. ²¹ Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²² Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did not we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?' ²³ And then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.' ²⁴ "Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, will be compared to a wise man, who built his house on a rock. ²⁵ And the rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. ²⁶ And everyone who hears these words of mine, and does not do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand. ²⁷ And the rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell—and great was its fall." ²⁸ And it happened, when Jesus had finished saying these things, that the crowds were astonished at his teaching, ²⁹ for he taught them with authority, and not like their scribes.

⁵ For every person will bear his own load.

So also will the rich person fade away in his pursuits. ¹² Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which he promised to those who love him. ¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death. ¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. ¹⁸ Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. ¹⁹ This you know, my beloved brothers. But let every person be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; ²⁰ for human anger does not produce the righteousness of God. ²¹ Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. ²³ For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his natural face in a mirror; ²⁴ for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. ²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect Law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this person will be blessed in what he does. ²⁶ If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he does not control his tongue, but deceives his heart, this one's religion is worthless. ²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

¹² Therefore whatever you desire for people to do to you, so also you should do to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

⁸ Above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.

¹ I command you therefore before God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his Kingdom: ² proclaim the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching. ³ For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; ⁴ and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to myths. ⁵ But you be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. ⁶ For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure has come. ⁷ I have fought the good fight. I have kept the faith. ⁸ From now on, there is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing. ⁹ Be diligent to come to me soon, ¹⁰ for Demas left me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. ¹¹ Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service. ¹² But I sent Tychicus to Ephesus. ¹³ Bring the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus when you come, and the books, especially the parchments. ¹⁴ Alexander, the coppersmith, did much evil to me. The Lord will repay him according to his works, ¹⁵ of whom you also must beware; for he greatly opposed our words. ¹⁶ At my first defense, no one came to help me, but all left me. May it not be held against them. ¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the non-Jewish people might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. ¹⁸ And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever. ⁴ Love is patient and is kind; love does not envy. Love does not brag, is not proud, ⁵ does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not irritable, does not keep a record of wrongs; ⁶ does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ⁸ Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are tongues, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with.
